Summer Term 6
June - July
Week 1 & 2
During the first two weeks of term the children have been enjoying their pirate topic. Miss Latchford sent the children a letter containing clues about a pirate who had been in school! The children then painted pictures of pirates using the clues and thought of pirate names. We have been telling our own pirate stories using the small world pirate toys to encourage the children to use their imaginations and share their stories with their friends. The children have loved exploring with the pirate dressing up clothes and in PE we have been “walking the plank” and learning to jump and land safely with our knees bent.
Week 3
Our focus story this week has been Noah's Ark. We have read the story and then used our mark making skills to write about the story. The children have painted some lovely pictures of animals and printed and counted sets of animals.
We have also explored floating and sinking this week. The children looked at familiar objects and predicted if they would float or sink. You can explore floating and sinking at home by clicking the link below.
Week 4
This week have been reading one of our favourite stories Dear Zoo. All the children love this story and they all join in when sharing the book with the nursery staff and their friends. The children had fun playing animal lotto, writing about their favourite animal in the story and thinking about the types of animals they would like to have at home.

Book and Bake
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to the parents and carers who joined us in Bears today for our book and bake activities. The children had a lovely time sharing their learning and activities with their grown ups. We hope you all enjoy sharing your new books. Happy reading. Xx
Week 5
This week the children have really enjoyed listening to poems from the book Rumble in the Jungle. We have been painting pictures of our favourite animals and used our mark making skills to write about our favourite animals.
Friday was our trip day and many of our children along with their parents or guardians had a lovely day out at Tywcross Zoo.
Parent Photo Gallery
Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who have kindly shared their photos of their child’s visit to Twycross Zoo. It is lovely to share these memories with you all.
Firefighter Visit
During this school year we have been very lucky to have our local firefighters visit school and nursery to play games with us, read stories and tell us about their jobs. As a treat the firefighters brought their fire engine, fire tent and a bouncy castle to school. The children had an amazing time, even the wet weather in the morning did not stop the children from having fun. 🚒
Party Day
The children have worked so hard throughout this year, so to celebrate we enjoyed a summer party. The children looked fantastic in their party clothes, we had lots of fun singing and dancing during our mini disco and enjoyed some yummy party food. Happy Summer holidays everyone. 🥳☀️🥰
Graduation Day
The preschool children graduated from nursery today. We are very proud of all of their achievements during their time in Bears!! All of the children will be greatly missed, but they are ready and prepared for the next step of their school journey. Good luck in big school boys and girls. 👨🎓😘👩🎓
