Nursery Admissions
Our Bears Nursery offers 52 morning places and 52 afternoon places, five days a week for 3 and 4 year olds. Currently, we do not offer full time places.
Children will be offered a nursery place the term after their third birthday (September, January and April).
In the event of oversubscription, the following criteria will be applied, in priority order, to determine which applications are granted places:
- ‘Looked-After’ children in Public Care (i.e. foster children).
- Children living in the normal area served by the school at the time of application and admission. (Please see the Derbyshire County Council website for a definition of this area)
- Other children whose parents have requested a place.
Our Cubs Nursery offers 16 morning places and 16 afternoon places for 2 year olds eligible for government funding.
To find out if your child would be eligible please look at the leaflet below.
To apply for either our Cubs or Bears Nursery please visit our school office. Application forms are available from our school office and are also below.
Prior to starting in our nurseries, all children are invited to a 'Stay and Play' session. These 30-minute sessions give children and their families an opportunity to explore the nursery environment, meet the staff and gives parents/carers the opportunity to share any information you would like us to know which will help your child to settle when their nursery journey begins.
When will you hear from us?
We have three intakes into our Cubs and Bears Nursery - these are September, January and April. Children who are eligible will join our Cubs nursery the intake after their second birthday. Children start in our Bears Nursery the intake after their third birthday. Nursery staff will contact you via email to invite you to stay and play session, please see the information below for an approximate time frame for this. We will only offer a start date after you have attended a stay and play session.
September intake - staff will aim to contact you in late June / early July.
January intake - staff will aim to contact you in late November / early December
April intake - staff will aim to contact you in late February / early March.
Children who have been accessing our Cubs 2 year nursery will be offered transition visits as part of their Cubs nursery routine.
