*Encourage your child to listen to and join in with a range of different nursery rhymes, for example Humpty Dumpty, Hickory Dickory Dock, Incy Wincy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star .
*Emphasise words that rhyme, for example Humpty and Dumpty, fall and wall, Dock and clock, spout and out and star and far. Clap along as you say each rhyming word.
*Encourage your child to draw or paint a picture of their favourite nursery rhyme.

*Read or listen to the story Wow Said the Owl!
*Encourage your child to make marks on a piece of paper about the story - remember these marks may look like scribbles to grown ups but they will have meaning to your child. Encourage you child to hold their pen or pencil using their "pinchy fingers".
*Collect a selection of 10 toys and sort them into different colour groups.
*Go on a colour hunt around your house and record how many different colours you can see.
