Autumn Term 2
October - December
The children returned to nursery this week after the half term holiday and they all shared with us their news and used their mark making skills to record this. We have been completing lots of lovely activities relating to Bonfire Night.
The children in Bears observed a minutes silence for Remembrance Day. Click the picture below to access a lovely clip relating to remembrance appropriate for young children.
This week the nursery children have been learning about the festival of Diwali. We have been very busy making Diva lamps, printing Rangoli patterns and all of the children helped to chop some vegetables to make a delicious curry which we all enjoyed as a special snack. To find out more about Diwali please click the link below.
We also enjoyed a fantastic parent stay and play session relating to Diwali. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who were able to stay and join in with our lovely activities, we hope you had as much fun as our children do.
Children in Need 2019
Thank you for your generosity for Children in Need 2019. The children have enjoyed a fun day in nursery.
This week the children have really enjoyed sharing The Gruffalo, which is one of our favourite stories. We have been busy creating Gruffalo masks, retelling the story with the story characters and using our mark making skills to write about the story.
Click The Gruffalo book cover to access the official website or click The Gruffalo to play some lovely games in the deep dark wood.
This week the children have really enjoyed lots of activities relating to the story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. We have been busy using our mark making skills to write about the story, creating story maps and using our senses to explore and retell the story. The children loved going on a Bear Hunt in the nursery garden.
This week the children have been using their creative skills to create their calendars and Christmas cards. We can’t wait to share these with our families.
The children have had a lovely time celebrating Christmas in nursery. We have looked at the traditional story about the birth of baby Jesus, created decorations for our Christmas trees, explored a variety of creative activities and learnt and performed some brilliant Christmas songs. We had a fantastic turn out for our Christmas stay and play session and we would like to say a big thank you to all of the parents and carers who were able to join us on this day. The children also really enjoyed a Christmas party and we had a special visit from Santa.
We would like to wish all of children and their families a very Merry Christmas. xxxx
