September - October
We've had a lovely summer break and it's great to welcome back all our children and families and help settle our new friends in at Cubs.
At Cubs the children enjoyed the story ‘Wow! Said the Owl’. We enjoyed lots of activities exploring different colours. They learnt the Makaton signs for colours. They made a lovely display using their handprints.
This week the children have been singing some of their favourite nursery rhymes. They have also learnt some Makaton signs to support their learning and understanding of these songs. We have also had fun using the musical instruments and exploring how sounds are made.
This week we learned about Harvest and food. We enjoyed making bread, it tasted yummy!
We listened to the story ‘Rosie’s Walk’ and we explored the nursery showing our understanding of prepositions ‘over’ ‘under’ ‘through’ ‘behind’.
The children loved going on a Autumn leaf hunt. They found leaves, twigs and conkers. We then used the items they collected in different activities over the week.
Ilkeston Charter Fair is held in Ilkeston every third week in October. It is one of the largest and oldest street fairs in the country.
At Nursery we have enjoyed some fair themed games outside, in the creative area we made shape Ferris wheels and carousels and baked some yummy hook a duck biscuits.
