Autumn Term 2 - October - December 2016

Autumn Term 2

October - December 2016

Week 1 - 31st October - 4th November

The children returned to nursery this week after the half term holiday and they all shared with us their news and used their mark making skills to record this. We have been completing lots of lovely activities relating to Bonfire Night.

Week 2 - 7th - 11th November

This week the nursery children have been learning about the festival of Diwali. We have been very busy making Diva lamps, printing Rangoli patterns and all the children helped to chop some vegetables to make a delicious curry which we all enjoyed as a special snack. To find out more about Diwali please click the link below.

Week 3 - 14th - 18th November

All the children this week have really enjoyed listening to the story The Gruffalo, which is a favourite story for many children and adults. The children have been trying really hard with their mark making skills and using their reading skills to retell the story and create story maps of the Mouse's journey through the deep dark wood. Click the Gruffalo picture below to access The Gruffalo website.

Week 4 - 21st - 25th November

This week the children have really enjoyed listening to the story We're Going on a Bear Hunt. We have been busy using our mark making skills to write about the story and using our story telling skills to retell the story. We also went on a Bear Hunt in the nursery garden.

Week 5 - 28th November - 2nd December

This week the children have been busy creating their lovely calendars and Christmas cards for their families. We can't wait to share them with the people we love.

Week 6 and 7 - 5th - 16th December

The children have had a lovely time celebrating Christmas in nursery. We have looked at the traditional story about the birth of Baby Jesus, created decorations for our Christmas trees, explored a variety of creative activities and baked some festive cakes. Thank you for generous donations for our silver sleigh day. We also had a fantastic turn out for our stay and play session and we would like to say a big thank you to all of our parents and carers who enjoyed a festive day in nursery. The children also really enjoyed a fun Christmas party and we had a special visit from Santa.

Merry Christmas to all of our children, parents, carers and staff. xxx
