2015-2016 funding

School Sports Premium – Use of funding 2015/2016

 

This year we have focused mainly on outdoor learning to promote physical activity in our school. Our funding from April 2015 – April 2016 was £8000. We have used this funding for:

 

  • Forest Schools equipment to set up and resource the Forest Schools area within the school grounds. This area has been fenced off and is a safe area for the children to work. Storage has been purchased to store all tools and equipment safely. We also bought a selection of outdoor clothing for the children to wear when accessing Forest Schools sessions.

  • A Trim Trail has been purchased and installed on the grass at the front of the school. This area has been fenced off for safety. We intend to use this area for active playtime, lunchtimes and P.E sessions.

  • We have resourced and organised the Reception Outdoor Area using School Sports Premium Funding to enhance the outdoor learning experiences for the Reception children. New resources have been purchased as well as larger equipment to “zone off” the learning areas and storage for outside.

  • General PE equipment has also been ordered to replace and replenish old used equipment and organise the outdoor play shelter for playtimes and lunchtimes.

     

Impact

 

  • Groups of children can access the Forest Schools sessions and are wearing appropriate clothing for all weathers. Children enjoy the sessions and have gained a lot from the experience.

  • Every child can access the Trim Trail throughout the week – we hope to see improved fitness and stamina as we use it (delays in installation from planning permission means that it was installed in October 2015 when the weather has been very wet so we have yet to see a real impact).

  • All Reception children have access to the newly resourced Outdoor Area. Children are learning outside as well as inside and are more active throughout the day.

  • P.E sessions are well resourced and children are very active during playtimes and lunchtimes. Children have a variety of physical activities to take part in at playtimes and lunchtimes and behaviour is improved.
